Q & A With an Art Major

Art by Lacey Ryan

What is your major and what made you choose it?

I am a studio art major pursuing my bachelorโ€™s degree. I chose this major because I am passionate about art and enjoy making it.

What is it like being an art student at Baylor?

Being an art student at Baylor has its own challenges. It is very time consuming and it is sometimes difficult to get the classes I need or want because the department is so small. With that being said, I also love the fact that it is small because I get to have close relationships with my peers and one-on-one conversations with my professors.

What art class has been you favorite and why?

My favorite art class has been oil painting. I have always loved painting, but this class challenged me to use a larger scale for my work and create my own still life subjects.

What professor has impacted you the most and why?

The professor that impacted me the most was my painting professor, Professor Winter Rusioski. She is always so helpful and encouraging. She genuinely cares about us as students while pushing us to be better artists.

What do you plan to do with your art major once you graduate?

When I graduate in May, I plan to work as an art instructor part time and continue to do my own freelance work.
